Jumoke from Nigeria "The Dilemma"

I realise that today in Nigeria, the average woman is not what the average man is looking for. Hence, there are single women into their mid and late 30s and even into their 40s. Because the average Nigerian man wants to retain his freedom to do the things he once did as a bachelor and have a woman at home for sex, cook, clean the house and bare him children; once he can afford to, while the woman's family takes care of the wedding. After all, he's the boss and even the Bible collaborates that.
So, he continues in his old ways and the woman isn't allowed to complain, or she nags. That was how he was when she met him, so, she shouldn't complain. But she isn't allowed to go out with her old single girl friends without taking permission, has to be home to cook, regardless of her office duties being twice as hard as his, she's the only one who takes care of the babies (he doesn't know how to change a nappy anyways), clean the house, cook (women's duties) even though she has to get up early to get to work and gets home late because of heavy traffic on the roads.
Unfortunately, the new Nigerian woman is educated, got a good job/career, is financially independent and can speak for herself. That's why she is still single at 35. Apart from women outnumbering men, which gives the man several options that he flaunts at the woman, the society never thinks a woman successful until she's married.
